Consultations
How a consultation works
From booking to engagement, there are usually three steps. Your first consultation, up to 30 minutes, is free.
Three steps
Book
Call, email, or use the website form. Tell us briefly what you need and your preferred language.
Consult
The attorney reviews your situation and explains the available options, the documents needed, and fees.
Engage
Once the scope and fees are agreed, we sign an engagement agreement and begin work.
Your first consultation
Your first consultation, up to 30 minutes, is free. You can meet with us in person or by phone; let us know which works for you when you book.
What to bring
- Your passport, visa, and I-94 arrival record
- Any immigration applications you have filed before, and notices or letters from USCIS or the immigration court
- Documents related to your matter, such as degree and employment records, a marriage certificate, or company documents
- Court records for any arrest or criminal case
If you don't have everything, that's fine; the attorney will tell you what else is needed. Please bring these documents to the meeting rather than sending them through the website form or by email.
Language
You can speak with the attorney directly in English or Chinese, without going through an intermediary.
Confidentiality
What you tell us in a consultation is kept confidential. For sensitive matters, we suggest meeting in person or talking by phone rather than using messaging apps.
Urgent matters
Our phone is answered 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. For urgent matters, such as a family member detained by immigration authorities or an urgent notice from the immigration court, call (626) 269-0572 at any time. Firm staff answer the phone: they will take down a brief summary and pass it to the attorney, who will call you back. Staff cannot give legal advice.
